Gaining A Foothold On The Other Side Of The Irish Sea For A Building Services Engineering Company

Tate Consulting, a building services engineering practise with its headquarters in Yorkshire, has expanded its operations into Belfast, initially creating five jobs in the city.

Following their success in securing a series of high-profile contracts, the company now intends to continue expanding their team.

The newly established Belfast office of Tate Consulting can be found in the Belmont Office Park on Belmont Road, which is situated in close proximity to the city's airport.

Belfast-born Jim Lee, who has worked for Tate Consulting for the past nine years and is now a director there, will continue to divide his time between the cities of Belfast and Harrogate.

Additionally, Aaron Stevenson and Kevin Gallagher have joined the team in the roles of associate director and mechanical associate, respectively. Stevenson will be in charge of managing the operations of the new office.

Both Stevenson and Gallagher bring a wealth of experience to the position, with Stevenson having spent the previous 25 years working for a number of well-known engineering companies in Northern Ireland, and Gallagher having spent the previous more than 10 years working in both Belfast and London.

In addition to providing fire engineering services, assessments of sustainability and building performance, and master planning, Tate Consulting offers commercial engineering solutions that range from MEP concept design all the way through project handover and post-occupancy evaluation.

The company's initial contract wins include Belfast Waterside, a development of 500 homes focused on the build to rent market that was developed by MODA Living in collaboration with Osborne + Co, and a 450,000 square foot logistics facility in Dublin for an international retailer. Both of these projects are examples of the company's work in the build to rent market.

"Over the past 20 years we have established a nationwide portfolio of clients in both the public and private sectors," said the managing director, Shane Tate. "We also have a reputation for always adding significant value to projects," he added.

"Because Belfast is currently receiving significant amounts of investment and is now the location of some of the most exciting construction projects in the United Kingdom, expanding into the city was a natural move for us to make, and this makes it a very exciting time for us."

Lee continued by saying, "This expansion will not only give us a valuable foothold and additional resource in Belfast, but it will also facilitate further expansion into the Dublin market."

"We are already working on several high-profile projects, and a significant portion of our success can be attributed to the fact that we are able to attract a highly skilled team that is interested in working on projects that will define their careers.

"Both Aaron and Kevin have a great deal of experience in the industry and are well-known in the neighborhood's construction community.

We are currently looking to build on this further and have plans to recruit several more electrical and mechanical engineers during the course of this year. This comes after a number of upcoming appointments have been made.
